The Shannon County Health Center provides private water sample test kits for use by private well owners.  The kit contains a sterile 100 ml sample bottle, water sample collection instructions, and a mailing label addressed to the State Public Health Laboratory located in Jefferson City.

The State Lab will analyze the water sample for total coliform and E–Coli bacteria, and the results will be mailed to the submitting party.  There will be a $10.00 fee assessed by the lab for the test.

For those who cannot afford the fee or do not feel comfortable using the kit, our Environmental Public Health Specialist will come to your home and perform the test for you free of charge. To schedule an appointment or to get more information, contact Kevin Durden at 417-967-4131.
