The Shannon County Health Center was established by a vote of the people in 1961. It is a mill tax supported agency with financial assistance from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, as well as other governmental and privately funded sources.

The mission of the Shannon County Health Department is to protect, promote, and assure the health of our citizens. We shall assess health status and needs, develop policies and priorities, provide services efficiently, and utilize all available resources to attain our goals.
