Personal Care/Homemaker

The Shannon County Health Center provides In-Home Services, sometimes called Personal Care and Homemaker Chore services, to any eligible residents of Shannon County.  These services are authorized by the Mo. Dept. of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) and are reimbursed using two major funding sources:

  • Medicaid (Title XIX of the Social Security Act) through MHD; and
  • Social Services Block Grant/General Revenue (SSBG/GR) through DHSS

Services may also be reimbursed through the following sources:

  • Veteran’s Administration (must be approved by VA); and
  • Private pay (self-pay)

The goal of the In-Home Services Program is to assist clients with meeting their physical needs, enabling them to remain in their own home as long as possible.

The four basic services provided by our agency include:

  • Meal preparation and clean-up

Respite – provides temporary relief for the caregiver of a dependent adult and may include:

  • Supervision, providing personal oversight of the client during the service period

We will work with you to provide the services you need and are authorized to receive.  However, our aides are not allowed to clean up after other family members or guests in your home.  We also do not feed or clean up after pets or farm animals.

Clients MUST be in the home at the time services are rendered.  We cannot transport or accompany clients to appointments, shopping, etc.  However, the aide may run essential errands for you on a limited basis.
